Abstract

Background. Modernization in Russia has demanded training specialists who can speak foreign languages for professional purposes. Modern profession-oriented me-thodology of teaching foreign languages suggests intensive teaching methods. Business role-playing is the most efficient and useful method in teaching professional foreign languages. The aim of the article is to analyze the practice of using business role-playing in teaching English for professional purposes, to reveal their advantages as well as to offer one of the role plays developed by the authors.
Results. The background of profession-oriented teaching foreign languages has been investigated. The necessity to continue methodological studies has been proved. The importance to use the given method as one of the innovative forms of the training process has been supported. The history and methodology of business pole-playing as a teaching method has been described. The recommendations about how to organize business role-playing in the course of teaching professional English have been given.
Conclusions. The research into the role and the place of business role-playing in teaching professional English has justified its efficiency in training specialists in higher educational establishments, has revealed its advantages in comparison with traditional forms and methods of teaching and has identified the new research areas for the problem.
